An Important Lesson June 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — reabytak @ 12:26 am

Look at those pictures.  Doesn’t that give you a bit more appreciation for what we have.

I just walked a block to the local grocery store carrying baby Ande (20 pounds) on one hip and holding a pound of hamburger in the other hand wearing inch thick flip flops in the hundred degree weather.

BOY WAS I HOT AND TIRED!  I didn’t even go a mile.

It makes me really appreciate all that I have, electricity, AIR CONDITIONING, nice shoes, access to food and water, being able to walk up the street to buy anything I could practically wish for.  I couldn’t imagine being in that world.
I’ve always thought I had an appreciation for them but, Heavenly Father taught me an important lesson today.  There’s no way I could do that, although if it was required of me I’m sure I guess I would.

I’m sure the pioneers had such a sweet and special spirit about them.  I would love to meet one of the Mormon pioneers and learn of their struggles and accomplishments.

I found this really cool website.  From what I saw it’s a virtual pioneer trek and for every 15 minutes of physical activity is one mile.  Then it has a place where you can track your miles and weight.  Then you end up “walking the miles” that they did.  It also has a widget type thing that shows your goal for weight loss and it shows how far you are from you goal.  I think that’s a great way to get in shape.  I’m going to do a little bit of it just to get a taste of what they had to deal with.  However I’m going to do it in the comfort of my home, have a hot shower, and sleep in my soft bed everynight.  So I guess I’m really cheating.

Every time I stop this post to think about what I’m writing I get an overwhelming power of emotions.  I mean honestly…..could you walk that far on rough trails, practically no breaks, not getting food and water right when you want it, no air conditioning, sometimes no shoes, sleeping on rocks, no private toilet (EEK!), dipping in lakes, etc…… My list could go on forever.

However I know that did lots of fun stuff.  They sang songs, played games and was with their family everynight without the hassle of what we have today.  They don’t have to worry about the sin and temptation going on right now.  They also didnt have to worry about getting kidnapped if they went to play in the woods, not that there was any.  Maybe some of them think we have it really rough.

I guess it goes to show us that Heavenly Father knows what time is best for us and what we can handle the best.

Here are some Life Lessons:

1. When you go to clean a stroller in red dirt….bad idea! Move to grass

2.  When you put the hose down to move to the grass…make sure it doesn’t hit you in your rear end

3. When someone asks you why you peed you pants….dont get mad

4. When dirt gets all up into what you cleaned….calmly remember it’s only your fault

5. When your dad’s shoes get wet….wait until he’s in a good mood to tell him

6. When your dirt driveway get’s  muddy….wait until tomorrow to walk on it, don’t try today or you will slip

7. When you lose to a hose….remember that it has to win sometime ;)

8. When you are covered in dirt and just want to get in a hot bath…SMILE it will be all right! :)

Girls Night Out May 18, 2008

On Friday Chloe, Ande, mom and I enjoyed a relaxing (HA!) night well Steele and dad went camping.  We watched Premonition and did nails.  Chloe got some cute pink ones with white flowers that just stick on and my mom put some glue on ones on my fingers.  I had cut my fingers earlier on some plastic so one of them really hurts.  Now as I type this it’s really hard because of the long nails.  :P

I didn’t take any pictures and I wish I had’ve.  For now though may it be a lesson to take more.

Tata for now.

Today has been an exhausting day, and I don’t know why. Just now at 9 I’m ready to go to bed. I’m SOOO not ready for EOL!!!! ugh….And I have to learn a song in 8 days for my “introduction concert” to Vocal Essence. Hopefully I can get my eyes and brain to work together and get me through the last couple of days. If anyone knows how to put cute original backgrounds on here can you please help me? I’ve been trying to do what the sites say but it’s not working. And I’m sick of the ugly ones wordpress automatically assigns. Well I’m going to go get some sleep. Hope you all have a good week. I’m going to at least post once a week. In the meantime check out this awesome story my friend is writing.

One Voice April 19, 2008

I have found the best song.  It talks about how everyone is wishing for less violence but how this one kid is helping.  I’m amazed that this small little boy could sing this amazing song at the age of 11.  You should check out more of his songs.  I don’t like his voice now :P but it’s cute when he was little.

Gosh I haven’t written for awhile but I can’t think of anything to write about.  My dad came back today.  That’s all I can really think about.  Oh.  My brother and I fight a lot and we always try to find ways to pick on eachother but Wednesday I was really impressed with him.  The neighbor girl had given everyone a piece of gum and he saved some of his so I could have some.  I thought that was way sweet.  It made me realize just how HARD he is trying.

(I apologize for the pictures up at the top put for some dumb reason they dont want to go down)

Everyone in the family had a “nice” day at the dentist.  Yesterday we were just expecting an exam but they had an opening so they gave us our cleanings also.  Since they had some openings the next day they just went right ahead and gave us our operations today! grrr

ME: I got three minor cavities filled and I didn’t need any numbing stuff. I was going to use the gas but luckily I didn’t or else that would have been $50 down the drain.

Steele: He got the gas and had a tooth pulled and had 2-3 fillings.  His tooth crumbled when it got pulled so he didn’t get to bring his tooth home but we assured him that the tooth fairy knows he got one pulled.

Chloe:  Here’s the sad thing.   She got sedated.  She had 4 teeth pulled and 4 caps.  She has been dead to the world and two minutes before she was asleep she was sitting up and talking to us.  Now she is eating some vanilla pudding.  I hope she gets better.

Well now you can see what a wonderful day we had!  JOY!
